Seva Food Bank is an initiative of Sikhs Serving Canada that addresses the challenges of food security and underlying poverty in Peel Region. Feeding those who live within or close to our communities is so important. Since we started, we've aligned ourselves with a few charities, Seva Food Bank being one of them. For the last 4 years, we have sponsored the Seva Spark annual Gala with design materials. From there forged long-term relationships with team and board members.
As they swing into their 10th year, the team at Seva was looking to revamp their brand and bring in a cohesive look and feel. Their current branding didn't have any direction and with a team of mostly volunteers, it was difficult to keep consistency in place. When we first met with the team we dissected the possible changes and the current pain points the brand was facing. Although on the inside the operation was professional and growing it was really hard to see this on the outside.
The first order of business was to provide them with a brand standards document that outlined their visual identity. Seva Food Bank's logo is a strong symbol and one that is recognized across Peel, so we decided to make minimal changes but we did want to introduce a 10-year anniversary badge they could put on display. From there the focus was solely on creating a visual identity for the brand. This included colour and font palettes as well as a Digital Strategy to elevate their online space.
Next, it was time to revamp their website. This was a challenge as the original site (and unfortunately we forgot to save an image of it) was very information-heavy with lack of direction or flow. It was time to bring that old WordPress site into a new decade!
We adjusted the information only keeping what was truly necessary and combining repetitive areas. It was also important that the site be easy to navigate whether you were a donor or a client. A few of the functionalities we added include, call-to-actions, a new mailing list set up, an active blog, as well as donation and appointment booking integrated directly into the website - everything is now flowing with ease!
The great thing about this website is that the team at Seva is empowered! We chose a platform that easily allows them to build the business, make text adjustments and add weekly blog posts. A 60-min coaching session with our team sealed the deal. The website and brand is now a proud share for everyone!
