Celebrate International Women's Day by supporting women. At work, at home, and more than just a post or a tweet sharing family members - this is not Mothers Day (although there is no harm in loving your mom).
It's a day to reflect and know that we still don't have equality and in some places basic human rights. So where should you start? What should you do? And how do you support women?
Here are simple ways I celebrate International Women's Day - every day, in hopes for change.
1. Find ways to join the fight for equal pay, share information at work, talk about it, and bring awareness to everyone in my life about the importance.⠀
2. Teach children the reality of feminism and why all genders need to be a part of it. I encourage this by sharing documentaries with my younger cousins and talking about being a feminist myself. I hope to one day to do the same with my own kids.
3. Support female friends or local female-owned businesses by purchasing or even sharing their services on your social platforms! It empowers in more ways than you know. This is why my #WCW posts are so important to me. I want to share stories of other women who are successful until the day we stop celebrating "the first female to..." ⠀
4. Educate myself and those around. Even my mom! Conversations are key. The more we talk, the more "normal" equality becomes. ⠀
5. Support a local charity that supports educating women around the globe. Something as simple as this - a donation or your time, can change so many lives and help an entire economy.
