I joined Clare Garner on her podcast Raw and Real recently, and afterward she said something that stuck with me: "this conversation felt like therapy for ambitious women."
Honestly? Same.

Building a business as a mother
We talked honestly about what it actually looks like to build something real while raising a kid. Not the curated version. The real one — the juggling, the guilt, the moments where you wonder if you're doing either thing well.
I've said this before and I said it again on the podcast: I don't believe in balance. I believe in harmony. Some days you win in motherhood. Some days you win in business. They're rarely the same day, and that's not failure — that's just what it actually looks like.
Branding, websites, and creating a business identity that actually aligns
This is the part of the conversation I could talk about forever.
So many founders build a brand that looks impressive on paper but feels completely disconnected from who they actually are. It photographs well. It says the right things. And it doesn't feel like them at all.
We talked about what it actually takes to build a brand that aligns — not just visually, but in a way that reflects your values, your voice, and the business you're actually building. Not the version you think you're supposed to present.
Why trying to be "for everyone" kills your magnetism
This might be my favourite part of the whole conversation.
The instinct when you're building a business is to widen the net. Appeal to more people. Soften your message so nobody's excluded.
It does the opposite of what you think it does.
The brands that actually attract dream clients are specific. They know exactly who they're for and they say so clearly — which means they're also clear about who they're not for. That specificity isn't a limitation. It's the entire reason people feel an immediate pull toward you instead of scrolling past.
The difference between profit and fulfilment
We got into something I don't talk about publicly very often: the gap between a business that's profitable and a business that actually feels good to run.
You can build something that makes money and still feel completely empty doing it. I've watched it happen to other founders. I've felt it myself in certain seasons.
The work isn't just building something profitable. It's building something that's profitable AND sustainable AND actually feels like you.
Burnout, hustle culture, and redefining success
This is a conversation I have constantly — in discovery calls, in collaboration calls, in my own head at 11pm when I should be asleep.
Hustle culture tells you that more is always better. More content. More offers. More hours. More visibility.
I've learned the opposite. Some of the most profitable things in my business were things I eventually had to release — because they were costing me more than they were giving back, even when the numbers looked good.
Redefining success has meant asking a different question entirely: not "how do I do more" but "what actually needs to stay."
Collaboration vs. competition
We talked about something I believe deeply: there's enough room for all of us.
The scarcity mindset — treating every other founder in your industry as competition — is exhausting and, honestly, untrue. Some of my favourite business relationships are with people who technically do similar work to me. We refer to each other. We support each other. We show up for each other's wins.
That's not naivety. That's strategy. Community over competition has built more of my business than any amount of competing ever could.
Creating authority through values, movement, and messaging
The last thing we talked about was authority — and how it's built.
Not through credentials alone. Not through claiming to be the best. Through consistently showing up as exactly who you are, saying what you actually believe, and letting that build trust over time.
That's the kind of authority that doesn't crumble the moment someone disagrees with you. Because it was never built on performance in the first place.
