I recently had the privilege of being a guest on The Empowerment Project Podcast hosted by Andrea Bosco and Dr. Shar Rai. In this episode, we had an incredible conversation about how I’ve navigated the intersection of motherhood and entrepreneurship—topics that are close to my heart and deeply connected to the journey I’m on as both a business owner and a mom.

The Myth of Balance

One of the biggest topics we discussed was the idea of “balance.” As an entrepreneur and a mother, I used to believe that the key to success was finding a perfect balance between both worlds. But what I’ve realized over time is that balance isn’t the goal. What we really need is harmony.

There are days when I’m winning in motherhood, and there are days when I’m winning in business. Some days, I’m able to give more to my business, and other days, I focus on my family. The idea is to find peace with the ebb and flow of it all. Instead of fighting for balance, I’ve learned to embrace the days when I can fully show up as a mom or a business owner, and accept that sometimes I won’t be able to do both perfectly.

Redefining Success

During the podcast, I was asked how motherhood has reshaped my definition of success. The truth is, success looks different for me now than it did when I started my business. In the past, I had a vision of success that included a growing team, a brick-and-mortar office, and expanding to larger markets. But now, after becoming a mom and navigating the challenges of IVF and parenthood, I’ve learned that freedom is the real measure of success for me.

The freedom to choose my own schedule, to pick up my son from school, and to have more time to be present with my family—that’s my new definition of success. And it’s not tied to financial milestones alone, but to living life on my own terms, without sacrificing my personal values.

The Impact of the Pandemic on My Business

We also talked about how the pandemic changed the way I ran my business. Like so many others, I experienced financial struggles and uncertainty during the pandemic. But at the same time, I found that my values and priorities shifted. While my business was going through its own growing pains, I was learning how to be present for my family in ways I hadn’t been able to before.

This period of uncertainty taught me that success is not always about hitting revenue targets or expanding rapidly. It’s about building a business that’s sustainable, that allows you to thrive while giving you the space to enjoy life. This realization helped me let go of the fear-based marketing tactics that were once so prevalent in my mindset. Instead of focusing solely on growth, I’ve shifted toward sustainability, and I’m grateful for that lesson.

Motherhood, Branding, and the Power of Community

Another theme we explored was the importance of community and support for female entrepreneurs. Being a mom and a business owner can sometimes feel isolating, and having a strong network of like-minded individuals has been essential in my journey. I’ve been lucky to find a community that understands the unique challenges of balancing business and motherhood. It’s a reminder that you don’t have to do it alone—having a support system makes all the difference.

One of the things I emphasized during the podcast was the importance of finding your village—people who can lift you up when you’re struggling and cheer you on when you’re succeeding. Surrounding yourself with people who understand your journey can provide the encouragement and perspective you need to keep moving forward, even on the tough days.

Final Thoughts

The conversation with Andrea and Dr. Shar was truly inspiring, and it reminded me that building a business is not just about checking off boxes or adhering to a predefined blueprint. It’s about embracing the messiness of life, letting go of unrealistic expectations, and redefining success on your own terms. Motherhood has taught me so much about flexibility, grace, and the importance of staying true to myself—lessons I carry with me into both my personal and professional life.

If you’re navigating the balance of entrepreneurship and motherhood (or any kind of life challenge), remember that perfection isn’t the goal. Harmony, authenticity, and giving yourself grace are the keys to finding your version of success.

I hope this conversation inspires other female founders, moms, and anyone trying to build something meaningful while staying true to who they are. It’s okay if things don’t look perfect—what matters is that you’re showing up, doing your best, and embracing every part of your journey.
